For sure, you have…If you are someone who is saying any of the following statements consistently-
- “I don’t feel like going to work today”
- “I wish I had more vacations than the number of days I go to work”
- “My job sucks!”
- “I don’t want to be working here anymore”
- “I am too good for my job”
- “I have been waiting for that one promotion for too long”
- “I deserve a better position”
So that’s how we keep living our lives and keep working like mechanical beings, away from our dreams! We make this a Practice Career based on the assumption that the real career will begin some day in the future and that is when I shall live my passion, or I will fully enjoy or I will do what I love.. We continue to live this myth all through, waiting for some miracle to happen.
Most part of the waking hours, one spends at the workplace so much that even when one returns home after a long day at work it is only normal to continue working mentally or responding to some important emails.. How ironical is it- that one works hard putting so much at stake like a good quality of life that includes spending time with the loved ones, or relaxing the body or mind, for a job that is nothing but a ‘Practice Career’…Eh..?
It’s high time one realizes that a job picked up for a wrong reason like- the workplace is closer to the house or it has a bigger pay package or the office has good facilities, means that one has been playing a smaller game in life.. Any job that doesn’t align with your dreams and aspirations will only last as much, leaving you burnt out by the end and feeling frustrated.
So let’s wake up to the fact that this is about My Life and My Career and My Dreams..!
If I don’t work towards it or challenge myself enough to achieve my bigger calling or meaning in my career.. Who else will..? There isn’t any second chance.. This is it!
Get into ACTION! Identify your true potential, become aware of your strengths, goals and aspirations, have faith in self and invest in a greater and more fulfilling career & future.. Seek support and coaching from an expert if needed, but live a life that gives you the drive to get up in the morning and create value in the job for the organization, or clients that you work for.
