If you were to guess, what percentage of India’s working population do you think wants to be an Entrepreneur? 20%? 30%? 50%? According to the Randstad Workmonitor Survey of 2017, a staggering 83% of the Indian workforce would love to be an Entrepreneur. That is more than 4 out of every 5 people! Apart from the fact that the thought of being your own boss is alluring, it is important to remember that not everyone is cut out to be an Entrepreneur. In this article, I will share five personality traits that prove that you are an Entrepreneur at heart.
Personality Traits of an Entrepreneur at Heart
An Entrepreneur is a passionate person
If you are an Entrepreneur at heart, then you are passionate both inside and outside of work. Be it sports or art or even a hobby, you are passionate about everything that you do and give it your best shot. You are never satisfied with half-hearted attempts at anything.
An Entrepreneur builds businesses based on their expertise
Over the years, I have come across many professionals who claim to have a path-breaking business idea. However, they are clueless about how they should go about turning it into a business. In fact, most people with ideas fail to convert them into successful businesses. If you are an Entrepreneur at heart, then you are inherently good at building a business around an idea that falls within your domain of expertise.

An Entrepreneur is focused and can multi-task efficiently
If there is one thing certain in business (also in life), it is the fact that nothing is certain. If you are an Entrepreneur at heart, then you have the ability to focus on things that are important for your business amidst all the changes and chaos. You need to be focused. Also, any new business requires the Entrepreneur to focus on multiple things at any given point in time. Therefore, multitasking is a skill that you must possess.
An Entrepreneur is NOT commitment-phobic
Starting a new business is easy. Managing it and turning it into a long-term profit-making enterprise is what requires a lot of dedication, hard work, and above all – commitment. If you are a person who gets bored easily or is averse to the idea of being committed to anything for long, then you are not an Entrepreneur at heart.
An Entrepreneur is an Intrapreneur first
An Intrapreneur is an employee who uses his entrepreneurial skills to work on the projects and/or assignments given to him. These employees constantly seek technologies, policies, etc. to improve the organization’s productivity.
If you are currently on a job and thinking of taking the leap of faith, then ask yourself if you are an Intrapreneur in your current organization? Or are you a skilled employee who is good at following protocol. In simple words, an Entrepreneur is successful at his job as well.
Remember, if you are not doing well in your job, then you need to approach the problem and not look at entrepreneurship as the solution.
